Vani Borooah, who was born in India, is Emeritus Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland; Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, India; and Honorary Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland, Australia.
